MARTY ROBBINS FUNDRAISER

Aberdare Park Road Race Website Background Test.png

On Saturday 12th July at Aberdare park, #617 Marty Robbins was onboard the D&M racing team CB500. During the first race, Marty unfortunately had a particularly nasty fall between Buckley Bends and The Fountain.

Marty is Currently in University Hospital of Wales spinal unit, with possible life changing injuries. On the day of the incident, surgeons performed an operation to remove a clot from his spine and insert several rods. He is facing a 6/8 month recovery period at which time the plan is to remove the rods, then assess his recovery percentage. He is Currently on his back for an unknown period and only being able to be tilted to a 30 degree angle. The bike means nothing but his quality of life is immeasurable. His 88 year old mum is struggling to visit him due to the distance although they have regular video calls. All we want to do is try and make it easier for his mum Judy to visit and if need be, make some adaptions for Marty’s eventual return home.

We all know what a strong character he is and hope for a great recovery for him. There will obviously be some highs and lows during the coming months and possibly the next year or so and would be great if all of our racing family could give a little. Myself, my wife Mandy and Team Griffiths are spending as much time as possible with him and will endeavour to keep you all updated during his recovery.

Many thanks in advance for your help .
