Aberdare Park Road Races are delighted to confirm the return of the popular “Ace of Aberdare” award for 2026, with a £1,000 prize fund once again generously supported by TH Racing owner Willis Marshall and Hywel Griffiths.
After a short absence in 2025, the award will make a welcome comeback, adding an extra layer of excitement and competition across the race weekend as riders battle for one of the event’s most prestigious honours.
The £1,000 prize fund will be split as follows:
1st Place: £500
2nd Place: £300
3rd Place: £200
The “Ace of Aberdare” will be decided using a points-based system, rewarding consistency and performance across the weekend’s headline races. Points will be awarded to the top ten finishers in the Twins, Supersport 600 finals and the prestigious Welsh Open races on Saturday and Sunday.
The scoring system is as follows:25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1
At the conclusion of the weekend, the rider with the highest accumulated points will be crowned the Ace of Aberdare 2026. In the event of a tie for first place, the award will be decided by the rider who sets the fastest lap of of racing. When signing on the riders will decide which two classes they want their points from. No one will be allowed more than two classes.
Speaking on the return of the award, Willis Marshall said “Myself and Hywel are delighted to be able to bring the Ace of Aberdare back to the park after missing 2025. It’s for both of us one of the best weekends in the racing calendar year, and to be able to give the riders who entertain us so much a little bit extra to chase is very satisfying.”
Race Director Derek Smith also welcomed the return of the initiative: “It’s fantastic to see the Ace of Aberdare returning for 2026 thanks to the continued generosity of Willis and Hywel. Awards like this add real excitement for both riders and spectators, and it’s another example of the strong support and passion that surrounds this event. It’s shaping up to be a brilliant weekend of racing.”
The return of the Ace of Aberdare further strengthens what is already set to be an unmissable weekend of racing, with top riders competing across one of the UK’s most unique and historic circuits.
Fans can look forward to seeing who will rise to the challenge and claim the coveted title when the Aberdare Park Road Races return in 2026.
