Following the brilliant success of last year’s debut display, the Aberdare Park Road Races Exhibition will return to Aberdare Library for 2025, offering fans, families, and first-timers a fascinating glimpse into the rich heritage of one of Wales’ most iconic sporting events.
This year’s exhibition will run during the week leading up to race weekend and continue throughout the week after, giving more people the opportunity to experience the magic and history of Aberdare Park Road Races. Finalised dates and opening times will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Launched for the first time in 2024, the exhibition was widely praised for bringing the sights, stories, and legacy of the Park to life, with a mix of classic race memorabilia, historic photos, past programmes, video footage and personal contributions from local fans, riders and families. Visitors were treated to a journey through the decades, from the event’s inception in 1950 to the modern-day thrills we see today.
Organisers are planning to build on that success with even more stories, unseen photographs, and new tributes to some of the most memorable names to have graced the Park’s tight and twisting circuit.
Aberdare Park Road Races Media & Marketing Manager, Matthew Davies, said “The response to last year’s exhibition was superb. Aberdare Library had visitors of all ages come through the doors, some who had attended every race since the 1960s, and others experiencing the history of the Park for the first time. It’s a celebration of local pride, sporting history, and a reminder of why this event continues to capture the imagination every summer. We'd like to thank the team at Aberdare Library for their brilliant efforts and work within our community.”
Whether you’re a lifelong supporter, a recent fan, or someone looking to learn more about this unique road racing spectacle, the exhibition is the perfect way to kick off and wind down from race weekend.
