We’d like to share an important update on our much-loved rider 617 Martin “Marty” Robbins, following an incident during the opening stages of the Aberdare Park Road Races on Saturday, 12th July 2025.
While making his way through Buckley’s and Fountain Bends, Marty unfortunately suffered a heavy fall. As a result, he sustained spinal injuries and was taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where he underwent surgery on Saturday evening.
Despite the circumstances, Marty has remained positive, upbeat, and focused on what lies ahead in his recovery journey. While the timeline is still unclear, he is already looking toward the future with strength and determination.
Marty is currently in good spirits, He’s happy to chat about the weather, Aberdare Park, his mum, and all things general, but would prefer not to talk about the incident at this time.
His primary concerns are (in true Marty fashion) the bikes, his mum and being stuck in a hospital bed for the foreseeable future!
He also wanted to express his sincere thanks to Every medical staff member, Every marshal, And every official who acted quickly, professionally, and compassionately in the aftermath of the accident.
And finally — in typical Marty humour — he’s a bit miffed about his brand-new leathers and helmet, but we’re just glad he’s still giving us a hard time about it!
Please continue to send your well wishes, and we’ll keep you informed as Marty’s journey continues. We’re all behind you, #617.
